Boiler Oxygen Scavenger Treatment
Powder Oxygen Scavenger™ removes oxygen from boiler systems to help prevent corrosion and pitting. Oxygen is a leading cause of internal damage in untreated boilers, resulting in unexpected maintenance time. Powder Oxygen Scavenger™ uses a sodium sulfite-based reaction to rapidly neutralize dissolved oxygen in boiler feedwater before it can cause pitting or corrosion. Used regularly, it supports long term system integrity and reduces unplanned maintenance or repairs.
Where to use Powder Oxygen Scavenger™ in boiler systems
Use In: Steam boilers, hot water boilers, and boiler feedwater systems with less than 50% condensate return
Recommended For: hospitals, schools, warehouses, and industrial facilities operating hot water or steam boiler systems.
Effective Against: dissolved oxygen, oxygen pitting, and internal boiler corrosion.
Add one pound of Powder Oxygen Scavenger™ for each 1000 gallons of water in the system. The Powder Oxygen Scavenger™ can be dissolved in several gallons of water to make addition of the oxygen scavenger to the system more convenient. Dissolve each pound of Powder Oxygen Scavenger in at least 1 gallon of hot water.
Stir or agitate this mixture to help it dissolve.
Maintain a proper blowdown schedule, and a residual of 30-60 ppm Powder Oxygen Scavenger™ in the boiler at all times for effective protection from oxygen pitting or corrosion.
NOTE: It is important that you monitor the Powder Oxygen Scavenger™ levels in the boiler water on site. Purchase the Powder Oxygen Scavenger™ Test Kit (stock #77857) to conduct this testing.
