SL-109
Return Line Corrosion Inhibitor
Condensate Return Line Corrosion Inhibitor
SL-109 uses a neutralizing amine formulation to raise condensate pH, stopping the carbonic acid attack that causes return line pitting and premature failure. SL-109 meets FDA, NSF, and CFIA requirements, making it the specified choice for dairy and food-grade steam systems. For best results, apply directly to the steam header using an injection quill, ensuring efficient distribution throughout the system.
Where to Use SL-109
Use In: Steam condensate return lines, steam headers via injection quill, boiler systems.
Recommended For: Dairy processing plants, milk production facilities, food-grade steam system operators.
Effective Against: Carbonic acid corrosion, condensate line pitting, low-pH condensate.
For best performance, feed SL-109 directly into the steam header using an injection quill. SL-109 may also be fed to the boiler; however, do not feed the product into the feed water tank or before boiler feed water pumps to prevent pump impeller damage.
- Begin with a feed rate of 1–2 ounces of SL-109 per hour of system operation.
- Monitor steam condensate return pH frequently during startup.
- Adjust the feed rate as needed to maintain a condensate pH of 7.5–8.2.
- Maintain free ammonia levels in the steam below 10 ppm to meet FDA, NSF, and CFIA requirements.
