Product Description

STOPS RUST
Defender™ II is not a cover-up. It stops rust in its tracks and puts an end to metal deterioration. Defender II chemically reacts with rust as it is being applied to a rusted iron or steel surface and transforms it into stable organic metal compounds. Existing rust is converted to a firm, black surface that prevents additional rust from forming. Defender II leaves a weatherproof, polymeric coating that seals out oxygen and moisture.

ONE STEP PREPARATION
It’s a treatment and a primer. It’s all you need to prepare a rusted surface for painting. Simply use a wire brush to remove loose paint, clean off grease and dirt, then apply.

CLEANS UP QUICK AND EASY
Utensils used to apply Defender II clean up with water and detergent. No soaking; no need for strong solvent paint thinners.

Directions for Use

Shake and stir well before using. Apply only when temperatures are between 60-100° F. On Rusted Metal: Defender™ II is a metal primer, not a paint. You do not need to remove rust; simply remove old loose paint. For best results clean surface with a product such as State 999® and rinse with clean water. Apply Defender II undiluted with a brush. Allow to dry overnight. Apply a second coat of Defender II or a top coat of paint. Where rust is exceedingly heavy, two coats of Defender II may be needed to thoroughly penetrate and properly coat the surface. For outdoor performance and maximum indoor performance, a top coat of paint should be applied. Allow 24 hours drying time before applying top coat. Clean brushes with water. Avoid spreading on adjacent areas. If splashing occurs, rinse with water. On New Metals: For new ferrous, aluminum or galvanized surfaces, two coats of Defender II are required. Follow the directions above for proper application procedure. Paint can be applied as a finish coat on top of Defender II. Be sure to allow proper drying time between coats. NOTE: Not for use on surfaces which are continuously submerged in water.
