  • Provides conditioning of boiler water and corrosion prevention in condensate lines
  • Easy-to-test-for product tracer allows for quick and simple product level determination
  • No mixing required

Product Description

BT-64™ is a complete boiler water treatment for both the conditioning of boiler water and prevention of corrosion in condensate lines, all in one drum. BT-64 combines a powerful scale-and sludge-control agent with oxygen scavengers and neutralizing amine. This unique combination provides corrosion control throughout the boiler system, maximizing the life of your equipment and reducing costly maintenance. BT-64 prevents energy-robbing scale and reduces boiler sludge, allowing for efficient fuel and energy usage.

SAFE TO USE
Best of all, since BT-64 contains all of the ingredients necessary in one drum, there is no need to mix chemicals, making it simple and safer to use. A single State Industrial products pump can be used to feed BT-64, reducing the need for costly, complex feed pumps.

BT-64 uses an easy-to-test product tracer that allows for quick and simple product level determination.

Directions for Use

Blow down boiler thoroughly to eliminate loose scale and corrosion. If necessary, clean the system with State ACIDINE®. The proper amount of treatment depends on feedwater hardness, make-up water, blowdown frequency and capacity of boiler. It is important to maintain both the correct level of BT-64 and the proper solids level (controlled by the blowdown) for protection against scale. See
your State Chemical Representative for recommendations on treatment amounts for your system.

STEAM BOILERS: Add through the vent or the opening into the condenser make-up tank or surge tank. Add treatment slowly to obtain uniform mixing. Check pH to assure proper dosage level. Check to see if amount of BT-64 is between 70-80 ppm with the boiler water test kit.

MAINTENANCE TREATMENT: Add BT-64 Boiler Water Treatment to maintain proper pH level and residual of between 70-80 ppm. This level should be monitored to insure that the boiler is properly protected at all times.

HOT WATER RECIRCULATING BOILERS: Initial Treatment. Add treatment directly to boiler drum or through a vent. Add slowly to obtain uniform mixing. Check pH to assure proper dosage level. Check to see if amount of BT-64 is between 70-80 ppm by using the boiler water test kit.

MAINTENANCE TREATMENT: Use BT-64 Boiler Water Treatment to maintain proper pH level and a residual of between 70-80 ppm. This should be monitored to insure that the boiler is properly protected at all times.

CLOSED LOOP CHILLER SYSTEMS: Maintain pH between 9-10 and BT-64 level between 50-60 ppm. Check to see if BT-64 level is between 50-60 ppm by using the boiler water test kit. This should be monitored to insure that the boiler is properly protected at all times. Blowdown the unit periodically to remove sludge.

BLOWDOWN: To prevent scaling, blowdown should be scheduled to maintain 3-5 cycles of concentration in the boiler. Monitor cycles daily with the test kit. State BT-64 Boiler Water Treatment will work as an on-line cleaner to slowly remove scale already present in the boiler. Maintain 70-80 ppm additive level to accomplish this on-line cleaning. Addition of product should be done at a point as near to the feed water inlet to the boiler as possible. Manual blowdown of the mud drum should be increased to purge the increased amount of the solids generated through descaling. This on-line cleaning procedure will take 2 to 4 weeks at full boiler load. Caution should be used in the case of severe scaling since on-line cleaning of large amounts of scale could clog the system. In cases of large amounts of scale, acid cleaning while the unit is not operating is recommended.

NEUTRALIZING RINSE AFTER ACID CLEANING: Before starting a water treatment program with State BT-64, acid cleaning of the boiler with State ACIDINE is recommended. After descaling with ACIDINE, thoroughly flush the system with water to remove all acid. To further protect the metal surfaces, add 1 gallon State BT-64 for every 75 to 100 gallons of water in the boiler. Fill the unit to 6 inches over the normal operating capacity. Circulate this neutralizing solution through the boiler and allow to soak at least 1 hour. After discontinuing recirculation and lowering the water level to normal, fire the unit to at least 50 psi pressure. Vent the unit during firing to occasionally release any liberated gases. After heating the unit approximately 1 hour, drain it, and flush with clear, warm water. Then refill the unit with fresh water and State BT-64 Water Treatment. NOTE: Submit a feedwater and boiler water sample for analysis at least twice a year to State’s Water Treatment lab.
